3 of the 7 teeth elements in the upper jaw are lost, they have to be extracted.

The teeth elements that could not be maintained have been removed. Under an anaesthetic, bone is taken from the hip and fixed onto the upper jaw, bone is placed in the paranasal sinuses as well. The fixation screws will be removed later on. In this X-ray picture you can see the canine that never came through (impacted), also see the toilsome position of the wisdom tooth at the lower right.

After some months of healing of the bone construction (augmentation), the implants are placed under local anaesthesia. After 6-12 weeks the porcelain "baked on gold" crowns are fixed onto these implants.

This is the view from the chewing surface of the new crowns on implants and the already existing crowns on natural roots. A fully toothed jaw has returned. The alternative for this implantation with bone construction would have been a (partial) prosthesis.

This man has a representative function and can now enjoy a good and esthetic chewing system without the discomfort of removable prostheses.
